The CMS experiment announces new results for the Higgs 2025 conference.

For the Higgs 2025 conference, CMS publishes a number of new results.

The LHC Run 2 Legacy on Higgs boson pair production is obtained in an ATLAS+CMS combination (HIG-25-014), achieving an upper limit at the 95% confidence level on the total HH production cross section of 2.5 times the standard model (SM) prediction with an expected value of 1.7 (2.8) assuming the absence (presence) of the SM HH signal.

The first results on Higgs boson pair production using Run 3 have been made public. Two of the most sensitive channels, that with two b-quark pairs (HH→4b, HIG-24-010), and that with one b-quark pair and one photon pair (HH→bbγγ, HIG-25-007) are explored using Run 3 data recorded in the years 2022 and 2023, and obtaining observed limits of 4.5 and 11.0 times the standard model, respectively. Due to improved analysis methods, the sensitivity of the new analyses is significantly better than that of the Run 2 analyses.

The first results in the search for triple Higgs production (HHH→6b, HIG-24-012, and HHH→4b2γ, HIG-24-015) are also available, the latter having been made public already for the EPS conference in July.

Spin correlations in Higgs boson decays to four leptons are studied using data from Run 2 and Run 3, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 200 fb-1 (HIG-25-011). The analysis provides insights into the possible presence of anomalous couplings and CP violation. Fully longitudinal and fully transverse polarization of the Z bosons are excluded at more than 6σ. The results are consistent with the standard model.

Beyond that, two searches for new resonances are presented, where the resonance either decays into a pair of Higgs bosons in the WWγγ final state (B2G-24-010), or into a pair of vector-like quarks that further decay into a pair of jets (EXO-25-004). The latter analysis, using 2024 data, does not confirm the excess found in the corresponding Run 2 analysis, where two events were found at a four-jet mass of 8 TeV.

Here is an evolving list of all our results presented at the conference. Details of the papers and briefings will be added throughout the conference.
